PRESS RELEASE:

Dallas-based indie label Carved Records is growing. The burgeoning, rock-centric record company has opened a second office across the pond in London. Notable music executive Derek Oliver will serve as Director of Rest of World Operations for Carved UK while all distribution outside of North America will be handled by  Cargo Distribution (physical) and The Orchard (digital).

Oliver began his career as a music journalist for Melody Maker and Kerrang! before becoming an extremely successful A&R exec for a plethora of labels including Atlantic, East West, Elektra and Roadrunner. “I am excited to be working with Carved Records and in particular its owner Tim Porter, who has a genuine vision for a global broad based record label” says Oliver. “In a time when the music industry is in a state of tremendous flux it is heartening to know that Tim’s enthusiasm is uniquely comparable to the pioneers of the business. I look forward to confronting these challenging times with the same enthusiasm and determination.”

In other Carved Records news, the label has signed a North American distribution deal with EMI Label Services just in time for a full slate of 2012 releases including albums from Tyler Bryant & the Shakedown, Texas Hippie Coalition, Oleander and several new signings to come.

“Carved is thrilled to be part of the EMI family” says Carved Records CEO Tim Porter. “They have a great team that is excited about our artists and focused on growing the label. We share the same vision on what Carved can become. In order to strengthen Carved’s presence as a worldwide label these new alliances will ensure Carved’s continued growth and afford our artists worldwide opportunities.”
