Texas Hippie Coalition’s July 6th release, “Rollin’”, has been reviewed on Bloody Good Horror and is featured on their homepage.  They call Rollin’ “a heart-pounding, nearly non-stop off-road ride through the too-often neglected back forty of heavy metal.”  Read the full review here.

No Justice’s Forthcoming Album, “2nd Avenue” Reviewed on Galley Winter

Posted 21 Jun 2010 in No Justice

GalleyWinter, the number one source for Texas music has reviewed No Justice’s new album, 2nd Avenue, as a feature on their site.  The album, available July 6th, marks No Justice’s Carved Records debut.

Galleywinter had plenty good to say about the new record, including:

“Produced by Dexter Green, who is best known for his work with Collective Soul, 2nd Avenue finds No Justice exploring and expanding on what has become their signature sound to drop the best record of their career.”

“‘Coming Up the River’ is a soulful delta romp that sounds like the entire population of Muscle Shoals, Alabama will soon be oozing out of the speakers.  Standout harmonica and dobro work play with big-voiced female background singers to make your foot tap and your brain picture Tina Turner pumpin’ tane down in New Orleans.”

To read the full review, visit GalleyWinter.com.  And be sure to pre-order 2nd Avenue at Best Buy!

New Independent Label, Carved Records, Opens Doors

Diverse roster emerging following first Country artist signing, No Justice

(Nashville, TN – Feb. 8, 2010) Dallas-based independent record label, Carved Records, has officially opened its doors for business and signed its second artist in just two months with the addition of Texas chart-toppers, No Justice.

Founded by entrepreneur and CEO Tim Porter in 2009, the Carved Records team is anchored by VP of Operations Phil Thomas (formerly of UMG Distribution/Fontana, RED Distribution) and Label Director Jenn Littleton (CO5 Music, former Sr. Marketing Director/A&R Geffen Records).

“Carved Records was founded with a mission to encourage artistic integrity and career longevity,” says Carved Records CEO Tim Porter.  “The Carved Records family has already signed two very unique and very diverse acts in No Justice and Texas Hippie Coalition, which is something that our label will continue to do in the pursuit of our creative vision.  Our intent is not to sign as many acts as we can, but to keep our roster manageable so that we can build careers with them.”

The label’s first Country artist signing is No Justice, a five-piece band from Stillwater, Okla.  The group has enjoyed significant regional success and airplay in Oklahoma and Texas, playing more than 150 dates per year and landing numerous No. 1 singles on the Texas charts, including “Never Come Back” and “Don’t Walk Away.”

“No Justice is a band that has proven hit-making ability,” says Carved Records VP of Operations Phil Thomas.  “These guys have enjoyed great success regionally with multiple No. 1s, and we can’t think of a better act to introduce to Nashville and the rest of the nation than Carved Records’ first Country signing, No Justice.”

The No Justice team includes veteran Nashville artist manager Scott Welch of Scott Welch Management and veteran agent Jon Folk of Red 11 Music.

“Jon and I are excited about the partnership between No Justice and Carved Records,” says No Justice manager, Scott Welch.  “The industry is going through a very challenging evolution today.  To be successful in developing an artist globally, it takes great talent, work ethic, and the “special sauce” known as passion.  Carved has demonstrated to all of us that they have the expertise and the “special sauce” to be one of the new forces in music.”

No Justice is currently in Nashville completing their debut album for Carved Records with producer Dexter Green.  The project expands on the group’s Country, Rock and Roots sound and is scheduled for a late spring 2010 release.

Carved/THC NAMM press release

Posted 14 Jan 2010 in News, Texas Hippie Coalition

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE- JANUARY 14TH, 2010
INDEPENDENT RECORD LABEL CARVED RECORDS LAUNCHES WITH DISTRIBUTION AND FIRST SIGNING
TEXAS HIPPIE COALITION BRINGS THEIR “RED DIRT METAL” TO NAMM AND A SHOW WITH DEAN GUITARS AT THE GROVE OF ANAHEIM
Dallas, TX- Carved Records is proud to announce its official launch as an independent record label along with the news of their first signing, Texas Hippie Coalition (or THC). The label has secured a partnership with MRI/RED Distribution and will be based in Dallas with a small team in Los Angeles.  The plan is to keep a small and focused roster of approximately four to five signings in the first year, with the initial release being the THC album in the spring of 2010.
Currently, Texas Hippie Coalition are in the studio recording their debut Carved Records album. They will be traveling to Southern California on January 14th-17th, to participate in the NAMM Convention. On Friday, January 15th, they will be performing at the DEAN GUITARS party at the Grove of Anaheim, with MC Vinnie Paul.
Although Texas Hippie Coalition is Carved Records inaugural band, they are no strangers to the music business. The band has spent the last few years touring in support of their self-released album “Pride of Texas”. They emerged from The Red River Valley that borders Northern Texas and Southern Oklahoma and ripped their way onto the metal scene with their dynamic live show, featuring the commanding stage presence of lead singer, Big Dad Ritch. It was through good old-fashioned hard work and their southern-fried metal sound that THC found the support of fans in the form of music lovers, gear companies, corporate sponsors and Jerry Springer (yes, THAT Jerry Springer). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ynRbmqJp_E The band’s music has enabled them to grace stages with the likes of Mudvayne, Saliva, Queensryche, Static X, Ratt, Nazareth,  Steel Panther,  David Allen Coe, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Gary Allen and many more.
The key players for Carved Records are owner, Tim Porter and VP of Operations, Phil Thomas. It would have been nearly impossible for Texas native Porter to avoid the music industry. Coming from an impressive lineage of musicians, along with having a passion for the art itself and garnering absolute success in a multitude of (non-music) business endeavors, it was only a matter of time before he would start his own independent record label. In 2009, Porter teamed up with Thomas, whose 2 decades of experience in the music industry have helped secure distribution, launch the label and continue to follow through on its success.
